Money Is Just An Idea

Money Is Nothing More Than An Idea And Riches A Concept

Money is nothing more than just an idea.meet gerardo flores We have all been brought up with different views about money. If you were raised in the Catholic or Christian faith you may have been raised with the belief that money is evil or that the desire to have money is bound to send you to an eternal grave.

What most people fail to realize is that money is nothing more than just an idea and that riches is just a concept. Think about this illustration; you and I are living in the ice age. You are a great hunter. I am a great arrow maker. You love to hunt but absolutely suck at making arrows. I on the other hand am the best arrow maker but absolutely hate hunting.

You: Let’s go hunt.
Me: I hate hunting.
You: Can you make me some arrows and in return I will bring you meat?
Me: Sure!

Commerce began!

Later…

You: Can you make me more arrows.
Me: No I have enough meat and don’t need more.
You: Can you make me some arrows anyway?
Me: No

So we get together and come up with a medium to represent value. Say we used precious stones that are rare and hard to find. We come together and say; We shall use these stones to exchange services.

So instead of exchanging arrows for meat, you now come to me with precious stones to exchange for my arrows. Then we use these stones to exchange for leather, fur, and so on.

Although this may be a poor illustration of what money is, it breaks it down to the most basic element. Money is a tool. It is a medium we use to exchange services or products. In ancient times people used silver and gold to exchange for goods and services. When financial institutions came into the picture they changed what that medium/tool was (money).

Until we change our ideas about what money is and weather having money is good or not, we will continue to struggle financially. We must educate ourselves about how money works and how we can acquire it in order to improve our standard of living.

Being brought up in a working Christian family, I was brought up to believe that having a job was security and that I shouldn’t work towards riches. Today’s economy will prove that a job is NOT security and wealth is.

Public schools teach us absolutely nothing about money and how it works. Most people don’t know where money comes from or how it actually holds any value. All they know is a dollar can buy a bag of chips and $30,000 can buy a car.

Money is an idea and riches are a concept. People are scared to acquire money because of the beliefs they were brought up with. And it is those same beliefs that keep them bound to mediocrity.

If we work for someone else, do they not pay us money? Now, what if we worked for ourselves and provided a good service that would improve the lives of thousands of people around the world, wouldn’t it be nice to get paid for the work? Would it be reasonable to get paid for the services we provide? What if you had a service that was high in demand and only YOU can provide it and people lined up to pay top dollar for that service, would it be evil?

You see, your income is in direct proportion to the value you add to peoples lives. If you have a job the boss decides what your services are worth. Whether you are a waitress, a mechanic, a clerk, an agent etc. the boss decides what your service is worth. If you have a service or product that improves the lives of others, then your “worth” will be dictated by how far you expand those services. By how many people you reach and help.

It is all a concept. It is how you decide to operate. We have been conditioned to operate in a certain way. It is up to you whether that “certain way” works for you or whether you will change those ways for more abundant ones.

Until next time.

Be blessed!
